2 ways to use the phone as a speakerphone and mic for Google Meet

Since the start of this pandemic, everyone has been working from home, and then there has been a sudden increase in virtual meeting apps, like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. But since we're still not going out, what if your laptop speaker isn't working properly? You cannot hear the person on the other end of the line properly. 2 ways to use your phone as a speakerphone in Google Meet

There can be two different scenarios, either you have not joined the meeting yet or you have already joined the meeting. Don't worry, we'll walk you through both situations.

1. You have not joined the meeting

If you haven't joined the Google Meet call, you can follow these two methods depending on your location.

You are based in the United States / Canada

  • Go to the meeting participation page
  • Click on Join and use a phone for audio
  • Here you will have two options, go to Call me Tongue.
  • You must enter your phone number and click on Call me and join.
  • Accept the call on your phone and press 1.

You are based in another country

The Call Me feature only works in the United States and Canada, so if you are in another country, follow these steps:

2. You have already joined the meeting

If you've already joined a meeting and a simple step has been added to the process, just follow these steps and you're good to go:

  • To go to the More option (3 points) bottom right
  • Click on Use phone for audio
  • You can now follow the Call me or Compose tab as shown above.

Notes: If there are more than 5 people in said meeting, or if your computer is muted before you log in, then your microphone will automatically be muted during the meeting.

2. Disconnect your phone

To disconnect your phone, you can either end the call from your phone or simply follow the More menu at the bottom right and disconnect your phone.

Here are the two ways you can connect your phone to Google Meet Chat as a mic and speaker. So you don't have to worry about your laptop's broken mic or speaker to attend the call.
