3 Ways to Personalize Your Android TV Home Screen

If you're using an Android TV, it might have a home screen already set up with preinstalled apps and channels that you watch frequently. But if you want to change that, as well as the behavior of apps on your homescreen, you can do that easily thanks to the flexibility of the Android operating system. You can customize the channels that appear on your TV's home screen and you can also rearrange them so that your favorites are at the top of the list. Follow the steps mentioned below to personalize it all on your TV.

Customize channels

1. Turn on your Android TV and on the Home screen click on the Settings (wheel) icon in the upper right corner.

2. Now in Settings, select “Device Preferences”.

3. On the next page, scroll to and press “Home screen”.

4. Now you will see several home screen features that you can change.

5. The first one is “Customize Channels” and when you click on it you will see different channels which you watch on your TV.

Here you can deactivate the “Play Next” function for these channels. For example, in the case of YouTube, you can choose which tabs you want to read on your screen. You can choose from trends, subscriptions, and recommendations.

Enable / disable video or audio previews

1. Then you can turn on or off the video and audio previews.

2. Just go back to the settings from the main home screen, and under the Channels section, turn on / off the toggles next to them.

Rearrange apps or games

Besides these two settings, you can also rearrange the apps and games on your TV.

1. On the Home screen settings page, scroll to the Apps section and below that click on “Rearrange apps”.

2. Then you will see all the apps installed on your TV. You can click on the app you want to move.

3. Then click on the application you want to replace it with. That's all, your previously selected app will change position with the new app you selected.
