3 ways to identify and verify your iPhone and iPad model number with Apple

Do you want to check whether an iPhone or iPad is genuine or not? You do not know which model it is? Or do you want to get the correct information about its service coverage and warranty status? Well, don't worry. Here is how you can easily identify and verify your iPhone and iPad model number with Apple.

Find your iPhone's model number

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Click on General and select Public chat.
  3. Here, look for the Model number.
  4. Tap the ID next to the model number (the number with / is the part number, not the model number) to see the model number of the device.

Check if your iPhone is refurbished

On the iPhone, the identifier character letter next to the model number defines whether the iPhone was purchased new, refurbished, sold as a custom device, or if it is a replacement unit. You can use it to check if the iPhone is a new retail device or a refurbished device.

  • M - Brand new device. The device was purchased new.
  • F - Reconditioned device. The device has undergone a refurbishment process.
  • N - Replacement device. This model replaced the device originally purchased.
  • P - Personalized device. The device was personalized with engraving upon purchase.

Check the warranty status

Check your iPhone serial number in Settings > General > Public chat. Here it will show you the details of the warranty coverage. Expired coverage means your iPhone is no longer under warranty.

Check the warranty status

On your iPad, go to Settings > General > Public chat. Here, note the code next to Serial Name. Now open your browser and visit checkcoverage.apple.com. Here enter the serial number, captcha code and press Continue to get the status of your iPad's service and support coverage.

Check iPhone / iPad Using IMEI

You can also identify and verify your iPhone or iPad using its IMEI number from a third-party website. To find the IMEI number, open the dialer and type * # # 06. Copy the IMEI number. You can also find the IMEI number in the Settings > General > Public chat section.

Now visit imei.info and enter your IMEI number. It will show you your iPhone or iPad information including key specs.
