IPhone 12 and 12 mini Reviews - The Best Basic iPhone Ever [Video]

In my recent video walkthrough of the main features showcasing the iPhone 12, I didn't have the iPhone 12 mini in hand yet, so I was only able to comment on Apple's large 6,1-inch base smartphone. Now that the iPhone 12 mini has arrived, I've been able to examine both smartphones in light of Apple's entire flagship lineup. Watch our how-to video on the iPhone 12 and 12 mini for more details.

iPhones 12

Apple released four new iPhones this year:

  • iPhone 12
  • iPhone 12mini
  • iPhone 12 Pro
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max

The majority of the features of the iPhone 12 are common to all models in the range. Differences in size, camera, and battery life can help you choose the iPhone 12 that's best for you, but all of them deliver the same experience. After testing all the models last week, I concluded that most people will be happy with the regular iPhone 12 because it offers the best overall balance of camera, size, battery life. battery and price.

All four iPhone 12 models are powered by a first 14 nanometer-on-a-chip Apple A5 system, resulting in modest CPU and GPU performance gains. However, the most impressive performance benefit is in the Neural Engine, which now houses 16 cores and is up to 80% faster. With each new generation of iPhones, machine learning takes on more importance as it lends itself greatly to advancements in computational photography, giving the iPhone a distinct advantage over traditional “dumb” standalone cameras.

Everyone gets the right display

If you're coming from an iPhone 11 or iPhone XR, one of the first things you'll notice about the iPhone 12 is the display. The Super Retina XDR display is no longer a so-called Pro feature, so now everyone can enjoy the benefits of an OLED display with a 2: 000 contrast ratio and perfect black levels.
