Fix the problem of the phone not receiving SMS messages

Check spam and blocked list

The spam filter is a good filter which was introduced on Android. Android messaging and phone apps have the ability to detect spam and you can put this number in the spam list. So check if you accidentally placed one of your contacts on the spam list.

To check this open your Messages app and tap on the hamburger menu. Select now "Spam and blocked". Here, open any text and it will show a pop-up with no spam option. Faucet "No spam" and messages from that contact will begin to be received.

You can also check this in the Contacts app by going to settings, then blocked numbers. Check again here if any of your contacts have been added to the block list. To unblock the number, press 'X' icon next to them.

Turn off the adaptive battery

Battery life is the most common issue that all Android users face at some point in time. Android now has a new feature, Adaptive Battery, intended to improve battery life. However, it can also cause problems by shutting down some apps and notifications to save battery power.

Therefore, if you have trouble with SMS, check and turn off the Adaptive Battery feature. To do this, go to Settings, then Battery and turn off the adaptive battery switch.

Have you changed iOS?

Have you recently switched from iOS to Android? Now that you are no longer receiving SMS, it could be due to iMessage. If you don't turn off iMessage on iPhone, text messages from Apple devices to your number can be sent only to your iMessage account.

To fix the problem, you will need to put your SIM card back in an iPhone. After that, go to Settings, then Messages, and turn off the iMessage toggle.
