Ways to control your OPPO phone with aerial gestures and movements

Sometimes when your hands are dirty or wet and you need to take an urgent call on your phone, what will you do? You can go wash your hands, but by then the call may disconnect. So, to solve this problem, OPPO last year introduced the Air Gesture feature for its smartphones running ColorOS. This feature allows you to take calls with a simple wave of your hand without touching the screen. Apart from this, among all the new features of the latest ColorOS, there are also motion gestures available for OPPO smartphones. In this article, we will tell you how to control your OPPO phone with Air Gesture and gestures.

Control OPPO phone with aerial movements and motions

The new Gestures and Movements feature is available on all the latest OPPO smartphones, including the F and Reno series. We tested these features on our F19 Pro model. This is how Air Gesture works on OPPO smartphones!

1. Take a call with an aerial gesture

This feature allows you to take phone calls with a wave of your hand in the air. Here's how:

1. Go to Settings and select Handy Tools.

2. Here, find the gestures and movements and tap on it.

3. Scroll to and tap the Air Gesture section.

4. On the next page, turn on the toggle for Air Response.

That's all. Now, when you receive a call, a hand icon will appear on the screen. All you have to do is flip your hand as shown in the picture and the call will be taken.

Notes: Remember to place your hand at least 20-40cm from the screen.

2. Gestures of movement

Motion gestures also allow you to do several things on your OPPO phone without touching the screen. You can activate Raise to wake up, automatically pick up calls, Automatically switch to ear receiver, and Flip to mute incoming calls. Here's how to activate them:

1. Go to Settings again, then select Helpful Tools.

2. Scroll down to Gestures & movements and tap on it.

3. Scroll down to the Motions sections and you will see all of the options mentioned above here. Activate all the options and this is what they will do-

  • Lift up to wake up The screen will wake up when you lift the phone.
  • Automatic ear pickup calls Calls will be answered when the phone is near your ear.
  • Automatic switch on the ear receiver Audio goes from the speaker to the receiver when the phone is near your ear.
  • Return to mute incoming calls When you turn the phone over, the calls will be muted.

3. Bonus tips: selection gestures

Besides the tips mentioned above, OPPO phones also have other gesture controls and one of them is the screen off gesture which is gestures that you can use when your screen is off. Here are all screen off gestures on OPPO phones-

Apart from these, you can also add your own gestures to the screen mute gestures. Gestures include draw ∧, draw M, draw W, swipe up, swipe down, swipe left, and swipe right. You can add any action to these gestures from Unlock, call and start an app.
